Introduction
Welcome,
CJC geography students! In this activity, you will have to take on different roles and research on population policies.
The
Task
You have all been invited by the Secretary-General of United Nations to attend the United Nations Fund for Population
Activities (UNFPA) Conference 2005. In preparation for the conference, you have to research on a certain aspect of either
the past or present population policies of your country, depending on your role.

Roles
A. Renowned Geography Lecturer in Singapore
B. Top Population policy analyst with the Singapore government
C. Chairman of China’s ‘One-child’ policy committee
D. China’s Home Affairs minister
Process
According to the role that you have been given, search the internet for the relevant information. You are given 20
minutes to do so. Write down your answers on the tutorial worksheet given to you during the start of this session. Be prepared
to share your ideas with your classmates at the end of the session.
